It has become quite obvious President Trump has special feelings for dictators around the world. First his admiration for President Vladimir Putin whom he has continuously defended him despite the fact that all of American Intelligence Agencies unanimously have concluded that Russia hacked the 2016 US Presidential election. Yet, Mr. Trump firmly stands next to President Putin and denounces the US intelligence agencies and in front of the entire world stated that he believed Mr. Putin’s “Strong denial” of the hacking.
Then his admiration for President of the Philippines, Duderte, who has summarily killed or ordered killing of hundreds of the Phillipinos without any trial. His reason for his brutal conduct is that he is trying to stop drug dealers. Although one could agree with his intention of helping to minimize the drug dealing activities in the country, but summarily killing hundreds of people in a brutal manner is not the way and only shows his love for violence. He is truly a dictator reigning over the Philippines. President Trump has developed a very close relationship with him and has used many admiring words towards him.
Then comes his love relationship with President Kim Jung-Un of North Korea, a man who is truly a brutal dictator who not only ordered the killing his uncle, but also his half-brother while he was travelling abroad in the airport.
President Trump started his contact with President Jung-Un in the name of easing tension and denuclearization of Korean Peninsula. Although nothing important and concrete came out of their meeting in Singapore, but a relationship was started to the point that recently President was so happy like a little child about the two letters that he received from President Jung-Un. He used the “love” word and mention that they are in love. President Trump talks about President Jung-Un with admiration without any reservations.
Now comes the putative king of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad Bin Salman, also known as MBS, the man who is a brutal as one could find. It is ironic that right after taking the oath of office, the first foreign country that Mr. Trump visited was Saudi Arabia and meeting with MBS. Mr. Trump participated in the sword dance, which no other US presidents ever did so. He allegedly made some arm deals with the Saudis. He has established a close relationship with this dictator. MBS among some of his horrific acts was jailing some of the richest members of the royal family in a Ritz Carlton Hotel in Saudi Arabia, tortured some of them and even killed one of them while demanding them to forego their wealth. He basically stole all of their wealth amounting to billions of dollars. He then purchased a half a billion dollar ($500,000,000.00) and a $650 million dollar chateaux in France. He has terrorized the entire country by imprisoning anyone who makes public comments against him. The recent fiasco is the missing of Jamal Khashoggi who is a US permanent resident, but of Saudi Arabia national. He moved to the United States and has two US borne children and was working as journalist for the Washington Post. He went to Turkey to the Saudi Arabia’s consulate to finalize his divorce paper as he was engaged with a Turkish woman and wanted to marry her.
Mr. Khashoggi’s crime was he had written some reports not friendly to MBS. Over 13 days ago he went to the Saudi Arabia’s consulate while his fiancés was waiting outside of the consulate. Mr. Khashoggi never came out. His missing became an international news and is feared of being killed in the Consulate. The fact that the day before his arrival to the consulate to jets flew into turkey from Saudi Arabia and on the day of his arrival at the consulate, the two jets flew out of Turkey. The camera outside of the consulate shows a black van with tinted window leaving the consulate escorted by some cars. It is believed that Mr. Khashoggi might have been killed and chopped into pieces and taken out of the country.
The Turkish President, another Tyrant, demanded that Saudi government provide proof that Mr. Khashoggi left the Consulate as the Saudi government was stating, but proof never came out. The story kept changing.
President Trump provided many contradictory statements when asked about missing of Mr. Khashoggi, now Mr. Trump is planting in the Saudi government mind the story that perhaps some rogue agents killed Mr. Khashoggi. That is the line that Saudi government is thinking of using so to deflected the blame from MBS. President Trump again defended this dictator and made idiotic statement that his concern would be jeopardizing the arms deal of $110 billion dollars with Saudis. Two things are drastically wrong with his statements, one he is minimizing the missing of a journalist who is US permanent resident and might have been horribly killed by the Saudis. Second, there is not and never has been a $110 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia. This is another of Trump’s at the very lease exaggeration or lies.
He is again defending another tyrant and dictator and helping him to come up with an explanation about missing of Mr. Khashoggi while deflecting the blame from his friend MBS.
Last year when Mr. Trump was in France and attended the Bastille parade, when he came back to US he said that US should also have a military parade. He loves to have military parade, his cabinet members to admire him left and right. He has even stated that US should have president for life rather than term limit. He wants to be president for life, have military parade and be constantly admired.
United States under the so called leadership of President Trump is going backward, rather than forward and is mingling with tyrants rather than with peace loving and democratic countries of Europe, who have also been our most reliable allies for decades.
