Certain groups are working hard to keep Americans misinformed and limit their understanding of truth which would cause different expectation.
In a country which access to information are ridiculously easy and plentiful, yet many people are unaware of what is going on in their communities, cities, states, or the country.
How this dummification is working? Well, it first starts with the media. The so called right wing media such as Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and other similar TV and radio programs without regards to the truth basically make up their own news which most of the time is nothing but misinformation and sometimes outright lies.
Then comes the effort to cut the education budget, reducing the educational curriculums, firing teachers, reducing school hours, or school days under the excuse of saving costs and balancing the budgets.
To continue with this dummification effort, the public community colleges, universities are forced to increase their tuition and fees making access to higher education unreachable for millions of students and leaving them only with useless high school diplomas.
This effort is further increased through mind numbing TV shows and programs that do not provide any value, except some entertainment in poor taste. No wonder America is falling behind on math, science.

Other countries have caught up and more are catching up, so no need to send students to a country which is consistently falling behind on education.
The dummifciation is continued by the politicians who are running for office. In order to win the election they resort to exaggerations, deception, and lies. An average person when watching the politician running for office tends to believe what is being said and that belief which is based on misinformation would lead to wrong decisions made by the electorate which impacts the outcome and the path the country will take.
Certain groups believe in order to control the masses, they must be kept uninformed and deprive access to education which could broaden the minds. A well educated and informed society cannot be mislead and controlled.
