After a very short and effective primary campaign the two finalists for French Presidential election were selected, on one hand a young energetic, but composed centrist named Emmanuel Macron without much of government experience. On the other hand a nationalist with strong command of auditory, Ms. Marine Le Pen. She is the daughter of the former candidate for the presidency, Mr. Jean-Marie Le Pen. He was the leader of National Front a right wing group who support separation from European Union, closing the borders and basically an anti-immigration, globalization and isolationist group without respect to other races and minorities.
Mr. Macron believes in globalization and having France open to other country and strongly believes that France should remain in EU.
Although Ms. Le Pen is a great and effective communicator, but speeches lack substance and logic and only designed to enrage the French populations’ feelings. On the other hand Mr. Macron is not as good of communicator as Ms. Le Pen, but his arguments are sound and logical. He incorporates logics in his arguments without intending to enrage the people’s feelings.
This should remind us of the recent presidential election in the United States, where one candidate kept talking about America first, closing the border and deporting illegal immigrants. Also promising to break North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The other candidate kept talking about being inclusive and supporting free trade and embracing all who are in the country and working hard and do not engage in any criminal activities.
One Candidate was only interested in enraging people’s feeling, while the other one was interested in facts and logics. Unfortunately facts and logic lost to rhetoric and empty promises and as the result Mr. Donald Trump became the president of United States, while Mrs. Hillary Clinton who has decades of public service and is intimately knowledgeable about US government and highly respected throughout the world with even getting almost three million more votes lost.
