Per United States census, women population exceeds the men population. The irony is that this large US population allow a bunch old fanatic politician make decision for them. The decisions that impact their lives fundamentally, yet this large population sit quiet and say and do nothing.
What is more amazing and for this author more upsetting is that this large population is paying for their salary and all other benefits. These few men make decisions on women’s health, productive rights, career and other matters. But with their taxes, they pay for the most fantastic health benefits that anyone could have in the United States. Meanwhile these fanatic politicians decide on whether women could have health care or not and what heath care services to be covered and under what conditions.
In a country that brags for being the most democratic and free county on the face of the planet, yet there is no woman ever elected as the President of the country. Countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Israel, United Kingdom, Philippines, Germany, South Korea, Kenya, Niger, Brazil, Denmark, Netherlands, Argentina have had female Presidents or Prime Ministers, as well as some other countries, but not in the United States of America, land of freedom, democracy and justice for all, and the richest and most advanced country on earth. Did I mention that it is twenty first century and yet there is no Female President in the USA?
And when a woman runs for the White House, she will be belittled and disrespected, women such as Carly Fiorina, Geraldine Ferraro (ran for VP), Hillary Clinton, and Elizabeth Dole.
In the labor force, still women make around 75% of men’s pay, that is for every $1.00 that a man makes, woman for the same job with equal qualification makes 75 cents. The irony is that in many positions, women are much more organized and productive than men, yet men make more money than women. Women tend to be better managers/organizers and employees.
Then comes the social responsibilities, where women because they become mothers and must carry awesome responsibility of being a mother, employee, and wife, if they are married. They must take time off to take of their children to schools and picking them up, taking them to doctors, attend extra school activities, take off when their kids are sick. All these which mean cut in their paychecks, while the men go to work and do less work and make more money.
Men(fathers), hardly ever take off from work to do the things that mothers do for their children. Take into consideration when the woman is a single parent, the responsibility becomes even greater as the financial factor needs to be added.
On the surface the women are protected by certain laws such as equal pay for equal work, family leave act, but these laws are not strongly being enforced. Women are looked upon as less qualified and knowledgeable than men and that is the reason for excuses for lack of opportunities. The reality is that the intelligence level of women is as much as men, if not greater, it is that they are not being given the opportunities to prove themselves.
Women Need to become much more active in the social, political, and economical issues and run for all local, state, and federal offices as much as possible. By doing so, they can change the current affairs and level the playing fields. They need to rise and demand their rights, the rights that are given to them by nature as equal partner to men. Afterall there will not be any men without a woman. It the woman who gives birth and raise boys and girls. How can a man who was given birth by a woman and raised him?
Women need to demand that men perform their equal share of parenting, that is take off from work to drop off and pick up children, take them to doctors when sick and attend school activities, while their mothers are at work. Women need to improve their financial situation so not to be dependent on men who may take advantage of them. Of course, this statement does not apply to all men, as there are some good and honorable men/fathers who truly do their share of parenting and allow their living partners/wives to do what they need/must do.
Women need to ensure the politicians and the judicial system protect their rights in reproduction, health, career opportunity, financial growth. No men must be allowed to decide for a woman’s health care and reproductive system for the same reason that men do not allow women to decide on their health and reproductive system. It is ironic that men could purchase Viagra and their health insurance covers the costs, but women cannot get coverage for pregnancy prevention or abortion.
Women are getting the short end of the bargain and they need to take serious action. It was unbelievable that millions of women kept quiet and did not rise to voice their oppositions to appointment and confirmation of Bret Kavanaugh who clearly had done something wrong. He admitted that he loves beer and from time to time he drank more that he should have, so why isn’t logical to believe that on that day when Dr. Ford was sexually attacked Kavanaugh could have been dead drunk and not knowing what he was doing.
Why these ladies sat quiet and allowed Kavanaugh who is going to repeal Roe vs. Wade and denying woman’s right to abortion, didn’t they realize that they are acting against their own interests and their daughters’ interests? Sitting quiet and doing nothing may seem harmless, but when women’s rights and their future are at stake, there is no time to sit quiet and do nothing. Times are getting tough for progressives and fair-minded people as the Congress is getting filled with more narrow minded and extremists politicians. The White House is already being occupied by a man who does not understand and care about anything but his own financial interests and just to be in the position of power he has bowed to the most fanatical wing of the Republican Party.
Ladies rise and demand your rights before it become too late and almost impossible to do anything.
