Well the primaries are over and the real campaigns have started. During the first debate, Mr. Trump started very strong when talking about trade and jobs in the US and sounded presidential. However, as the topics changed to other issues, Mr. Trump lost his cool and started talking and acting somewhat un-presidential and in some cases childish and throwing a tantrums.
What Mr. Trump has failed to understand and realize is that running for the presidency is much more than a game or a show. Presidency of the United States is a very serious matter as well as one of the most important jobs in the world. Whether he likes it or not, the rest of the world are watching this race and wondering what US has become, where a shrewd business man whose pride is haggling and squeezing people out of their last dime to his advantage is running for the White House.
Mr. Trump takes pride in filing bankruptcies at least four times, but in reality he had done it six times and call it smart move. During the first debate, he bragged of being smart by not paying taxes, while he keeps saying that he would tax products made by US Corporations outside of the USA and imported to the U
Mr. Trump became irritated and continuously interrupted Secretary Clinton during their debate. It has become very clear that Mr. Trump does not and cannot stand anyone to contradict or disagree with him. His authoritarian attitude and approach is not only alarming, but also discouraging to his supporters and the undecided voters.
Mr. Trump accuses Secretary Clinton of lacking stamina for presidency, while clearly during the debate he was the one that showed lack of stamina, while Secretary Clinton kept her cool and remained very calm during the entire debate.
As to the knowledge about the issues, in particular as relate to military and foreign policies, there is no doubt that Mr. Trump lacks sufficient knowledge in order to be able to make a sound arguments about any of these issues. It was mind shattering when during the debate she said that the USA should have taken the Iraqi’s oil. It has been well established by the United Nation and international treaties that invading a sovereign country and taking her resources are illegal and in violation of the international law.
Mr. Trump does not understand that having nuclear weapon does not mean that it has to be deployed and used against other nations, and that it is only for deterrent purposes. He has been loudly questioning why US does not use her nuclear weapons. Doesn’t he understand that use of such weapons would bring chaos and be disastrous?
Mr. Trump’s arrogance and self-righteousness is only hurting him and cause him to lose the election. It seems that his handlers have no influence over him and Mr. Trump behaves as he wishes despite the advice of his aids.
The candidates for the Presidency of the United States should possess the following qualifications;
• Solid knowledge of foreign affairs
• Full understanding of the role of military in the country
• Understanding of the social issues
• Understanding of economic issues
• Ability to offer plans to improve the ills and issues that are the most important to the society
• Cool and calm character and stamina to guide him/her through tough times and enable him/her to make sound decisions at the most important times
Possessing integrity and honesty so the people could trust him/her in what he/she says and does.
Although neither Secretary Clinton nor Mr. Trump possess all of the above qualifications, but comparing these two candidates, Secretary Clinton hands on wins qualification tests.
Mr. Trump has forgotten that there are things called tape recorders, videos, cameras, and newspaper, and internet. What he says are recorded and can be viewed, listened to, or read years later. Mr. Trump makes a statement today and the very next day he denies ever making such statement. Even if one shows him the video or recording of his voice, he immediately denies and changes the subject. One cannot truly believe in what Mr. Trump says as it may change from one day to another.
He is prompt to accuse others of lying or wrongful conduct, but denies all 3600 lawsuits, class action lawsuits in East and West Coast relating his universities, trying to cheat the creditors, suppliers, and laborers by filing bankruptcies. To Mr. Trump all of his actions are sign of being smart businessman, but if others are slightly off in their conducts, then they are being accused of being lies and crooked.
Words do not matter to Mr. Trump, all matter is grandstanding.
