American taxpayers have funded the entire investigation for Robert Mueller for two years costing millions of dollars. Robert Mueller works for Americans first, therefore, he must go before the Congress and testify, no two ways about it.
Ever since submitting his report to the department of justice, Robert Mueller had basically hidden from the public. Recently he finally said a few words about his investigation. And it was only a few words. His entire speech was a little over 9 minutes.
During his public comments, he basically stated that he could not say much and we should refer to his report. The only substantive statement that he made was emphasizing that he and his team could not exonerate Donald Trump and they could not find evidence of criminal activities, not because he is innocent, but because of the department of justice long-lasting policy of not convicting a sitting president. Therefore, he was not allowed to conduct a full investigation. In fact, he could not even depose Donald Trump and the only discovery he could conduct was send a set of written questions which Trump’s attorneys prepared the responses, which they were not much help to the investigation.
The very fact that Donald Trump has used all his power to stop the people very close to him to testify and ignore subpoenas proves that Donald Trump is very much concerned and is afraid of being charged with crimes.
When Mueller submitted his report to the department of justice, Donald Trump was openly stating that he has no problem with the report being public, while on the other hand, he has been fighting vigorously to stop even a redacted version of the report to be published. During his brief public statement, Robert Mueller stated that he has completed his investigation and his team are being disbanded and he would be resigning from the department of justice and returning to private life.
If that is true, then he should willingly come before the Congress and testify in full about his findings and the evidence. As we all witnessed the Attorney General, William Barr, quickly and without hesitation shortly after receiving the 480 pages of Mueller report went in front of the cameras and announced that the report had exonerated Donald Trump of any wrongdoing, which was totally false. As he was making that statement, he was also reading from the brief that the Mueller’s team could not declare that Donald Trump was innocent of committing any crimes. How ironic is that the United States Attorney General live in front of cameras lie to the American public, the very people that he is receiving his salary and benefits from and for whom he should be serving and protecting them.
Now that Robert Mueller is private citizen, he should have no worries to openly talk about his two years of investigations and the obstructions that he faced during his investigation and not being able to clearly conclude his investigation as to Donald Trump’s guilt or innocence. Further, it seems that Robert Mueller shortchanged the American people by submitting a report without a clear and concise conclusion and leaving it up to the Congress to decide as to the innocence or guilt of President Trump.
Congress must do its constitutional duty by conducting a full and complete investigation and hearing to get to the bottom of this mess. Democracy, Freedom, and Justice should not belong to Republicans or Democrats, they belong to the United States of America, regardless of anyone’s political affiliation.
