One hundred days of President Donald Trump administration is over. The accomplishments could easily be counted to none. It is true that President Trump signed numerous executive orders which every president does. The executive orders are not accomplishment as it requires nothing except one page of writing of the order and then signed by the President.
Accomplishments are measured in signing bills that were either initiated by the president or initiated by the Congress and President has some influence on the bill and then signed the bill into law. Examples are Affordable Health Care Act, Tax laws, etc. President Trump bragged that he also appointed and had his nominee, Justice of the Supreme Court, Neil M. Gorsuch, confirmed in his first 100 days of his administration. That would have been an accomplishment if it was done properly.
To confirm a nominee as Justice of the Supreme Court, the nominee must receive 60 votes from the Senators that would be super majority. President Trump could not persuade 60 members of the Senate to vote for his nominee. So Senate Majority Leader, Senator Mitch McConnell changed the rule so to require only simple majority which would be 51 votes.
The Democrats in the Senate resorted to filibustering the nominee, but at the end the simple majority was implemented and Judge Neil Gorsuch was confirmed to that position. If one calls that an accomplishment, then one should be congratulating Senator Mitch McConnell who changed the rule so President Trump’s nominee could be confirmed.
The major accomplishment that President Trump could have achieved, but did not happen was repealing the Affordable Health Care Act also known as Obama Care. President Trump made repealing the Obama Care is one of his priority when he got to the White House. But unfortunately for President Trump, even his own party members refused to support the health care bill that was introduce for replacing Obama Care. House Majority Leader, Paul Ryan, realizing that he could not even get simple majority votes, decided not to bring the bill to the floor and announced that when there are enough votes, he would do so.
We all remember, the WALL. President Trump talked about building the Wall so to keep the Mexican out at nausea. When he became the president, he has not been able to get enough support from his own party to get approval for the funding of the wall. In the recent Budget that was just approved by the Congress so to keep the Government operational till September 30, 2017, there is no provision for even building one foot of the wall, let alone the entire 2000 mile of the wall.
President Trump during the campaign kept referring to China as currency manipulator, violating the trades, but after his meeting with President of China, President Trump announced that China is not engaged in currency manipulation and even agreed to go easy on China as it relates to trade so China could influence North Korea as relates to testing missiles.
Launching 62 missiles to Syria in retaliation for chemical attacks on Syrian civilians allegedly committed by the Syrian regime does not constitute as accomplishment, in particular when these missiles were dropped on isolated part of an airport from which the planes which dropped the chemical bombs took off. Within hours of dropping 62 missiles on the airport, Syrian Fighter planes were taking off and landing on that airport.
