The recent attacks by Islamic fanatics who have only one goal which is to take over the region and install Islamic laws, commonly known as Sharia law have become concerns of the entire world in particular western countries.

Some of the victims of these attacks and mayhem have been European and American citizens who have been mercilessly murdered in front of the world to see. One could argue the brutality of these killings whom most if not all were Christians is to cause the Christian community to rise against Islam which would unite the Moslem community in that region to fight against the Christians. In fact certain Christian religious groups have already talking about defending Christianity against Islamists. This is exactly what the Moslem fanatics want, a religious war between Christians and Moslems, never mind how many Christians and Moslems would die, as long as they achieve their goal of unification of Moslems in that region.

The West should not fall into this trap, nor should the Western forces engage into any battle with these groups. Having said that, this does not mean that these groups should be left alone and be allowed to do whatever they want to do and continue with their mayhem and destructions. What the west should do is to support the local governments which these religious fanatics are trying to over throw. For example Iraqi and Syrian governments should be fully supported economically, technologically, militarily (with training and equipment), and politically.

Further, the West should also engage in mass education of the citizens in that region through mass media and internet. The same way that these groups are using the internet to recruit new fighters across the world, the West should their lead by reaching to the young and vulenarble men and women so to discourage them from joining these groups. Also the West need to interrupt the media network of these groups and make it difficult for them to communicate with the potential recruitees.

The West must also encourage the local governments to provide the basic services to the public so they understand and appreciate their services. One of the attractions of the ISIS is that as soon as they capture a town, they immediately make repairs to the infructures so to ensure that the public receive the basic services such as electricity, water and have the roads repaired.

Having corrupt or incompetent governments are one of the main causes dissatisfaction by the public which tend to be attracted to the these fanatic groups.
