The answer is “No.”, not because this author has visited the nuclear facilities in Iran or know from first hand, but because the United Nations Nuclear Inspectors under the leadership of Dr. Baradi says so. They are in a much better position to judge on the capability of Iran’s nuclear facilities, than anyone else. This is because they have inspected the facilities and are experts in understanding and investigating the presence of such weapons.

United States has made some wild allegations that Iran is building nuclear weapons and must abandon their activities. Iran and many other countries claim that any nuclear activities are for energy and peaceful purposes.

History has shown many times that when a country is attacked by foreign forces, the people of the country being attack rally behind their government regardless how much they may despise that government, as no patriot likes to be attacked by foreign forces.

The irony to all these is that many Iranians living in US are very much in support of attacking Iran without fully understanding the ramifications of their standings.

These groups believe that by attacking Iran the Iranian regime will be overthrown and Iranians will be liberated.

Attacking Iran under any scenario is a “Bad Idea”.

History has shown many times that when a country is attacked by foreign forces, the people of the country being attack rally behind their government regardless how much they may despise that government, as no patriot likes to be attacked by foreign forces.

Furthermore, attacking Iran will cause the neighboring countries as well as other countries that feel somewhat alienated towards US to prepare themselves militarily which means building and amassing weapons including weapons of mass destruction.

Therefore, if the goal of attack on Iran is to remove the current regime, it is most likely going to back fire and allow the regime to solidify its position, as we have already witnessed such solidarity with the recent mass demonstration in Tehran against the US, when it was announced the US plans to attack Iran. It will take many more years for Iranians start despising the regime again.

Also attacking Iran will cause the current regime mobilize their forces including Hezbollah which was creation of Ayatollah Khomeini and his regime to attack US interests throughout the world which makes the world specially United States and its people less safe.

Furthermore, attacking Iran will cause the neighboring countries as well as other countries that feel somewhat alienated towards US to prepare themselves militarily which means building and amassing weapons including weapons of mass destruction. This obliviously not only does not make the world safer, but in fact will have the opposite effect of the goal set by Bush Administration that is to make the world a safer place and get rid of weapons of mass destructions.

So if these arguments make sense then why US still plans to attack Iran? The answer could be perhaps it is not because of WMD, but something else, like OIL!

Attacking Iran and invasion of Iran specially southern borders where the oil fields are will give the United States the monopoly of oil throughout the world as most of the world’s oil demand is extracted and shipped from Persian Gulf. The United States already has military presence in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, United Arab Emirates and having military presence in Iran will complete the control of Persian Gulf and world’s oil need. With such control comes political and economic powers that the United States would use to promote its agenda.

This approach has already being used once, that is, in Iraq. The United States attacked Iraq under pretext of having WMD, but in reality the aim has been control of Iraqi’s oil fields, that is why the only building that the US forces were order to protect was the Oil Minister despite the fact that this building was on the bottom of the list of buildings to be protected. The number one building to be protected was Iraq’s Museum and then the Library, but as we all witnessed, they were the least concerns of the US and were looted and burnt which resulted in the loss of some of the most precious and oldest artifacts and manuscript which identified our humanity and our existence as mankind.

Those Iranians who support the US attack in Iran are not thinking properly and have failed to understand the full ramification of such attack as well as the devastation that comes with such attack. As we have witnessed in Iraq.

United States has been relying to some certain extent on the intelligence provided by the Iranian Oppositions group hoping that they will fall on the good side of the US government and when the Iranian regime falls, they will lead the country.
